Gemini Live Expands "Talk Live About" Feature to More Android Devices

Google’s **Gemini Live** is gaining broader availability for its **"Talk Live about"** feature, allowing users to engage in voice-based conversations about **images, files, and YouTube videos**. Initially limited to select devices like the **Pixel 9, Galaxy S24, and S25**, this functionality is now rolling out to **older Pixel and Samsung phones**—even for users on the **free Gemini tier**.

## **What Can You Do with "Talk Live About"?**

The feature enhances Gemini Live’s capabilities beyond simple voice input. Now, you can:

- **Discuss Images**: Upload from your **Gallery** or take a new photo with the **Camera**. (Note: Screenshots taken via "Ask about screen" don’t work.)
- **Analyze Files**: Upload a document or open a **PDF in Files by Google/Samsung Notes** and activate the **Gemini overlay**. Supported formats include **TXT, DOC, DOCX, PDF, RTF, and HWP**.
- **Chat About YouTube Videos**: Either open the Gemini overlay while watching or paste a **YouTube link** into the Gemini app. The AI can answer questions based on **video captions** (for clips up to **2 hours long**).

Once activated, Gemini Live opens in full-screen mode with a preview of your selected content, letting you ask context-aware questions.

## **Wider Device Availability & UI Tweaks**

Originally launched in **January 2025**, the feature was initially exclusive to flagship devices. However, with the **March 2025 Feature Drop**, Google expanded support to **Pixel 6 and newer models**. Now, it’s appearing on even more devices.

Additionally, Google has refined the **Gemini Live UI**, replacing text labels with **more compact buttons** (visible in **Google app v16.11**).

## **Gemini 2.5 Pro Now in Public Preview for Developers**

In related news, **Gemini 2.5 Pro** has entered **public preview** in the **Gemini API** (via **Google AI Studio**), with **Vertex AI** support coming soon. Developers can now access **higher rate limits** when building apps powered by the new model.

This follows **Gemini 2.5 Pro Experimental’s** rollout to **Advanced users** 10 days ago, with **free access** arriving last weekend.
